Research In Motion has announced that the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 will be released for download from today (February 21st).

The PlayBook 2.0 will deliver an enhanced tablet experience and allows people to use the device in many different ways throughout the working day.

Some of the new features of the software include an integrated email system that gives the option of using a unified inbox that consolidates all messages in one place, including content from Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.

There have also been thousands of apps added to the BlackBerry App World including a range of Android downloads that can run on the device.

“Building on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet’s proven web browsing, multimedia and multitasking strengths, the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 introduces a range of new communications and productivity enhancements,” Senior Vice President, Mobile Computing of Research In Motion David J Smith.

One of the main criticisms of the previous PlayBook was the fact that the device had to be connected to a mobile phone in order to receive email.
